Student Council Training
Kilkenny Education Centre hosted a seminar in Spring 2007 which was primarily aimed at assisting Student Councils who were looking for ideas and suggestions that could sustain their work in the future. It was co-facilitated by Deirdre Phelan from the Office of the Minister for Children.
Each participating school sent two representatives.
The seminar focused on:
- role and function of a Student Council
- Issues and challenges facing students on a Student Council
- Examples of good practice
- Networking
A network of Student Councils in the catchment area has now been set up and regular meetings are planned
